Washington Slagbaai National Park - MANAGEMENT Unlike many national parks around the globe that are government-managed, the Washington Slagbaai National Park is managed by a non-profit NGO: STINAPA Bonaire. The result is a less bureaucratic and more efficient management. The vision of Park Management is to become a model park in the Caribbean. We work towards realization of this vision by improving different aspects of the Park, such as the infrastructure, human resources, and equipment. With the improvements in place the Park can become financially self-sustainable and be able to carry out all the necessary tasks to ensure the protection of its natural and historical resources. Grants and donations make these improvements possible. In order to manage the park efficiently a Management Plan was developed. The Washington Slagbaai National Park consists of 13,500 acres of land filled with natural and historical resources. The main management areas are:
